Our
History
OVER
21 was founded in 1982 under a Program Development Fund grant
from the Department of Developmental Services.
Initial development was a joint venture with San Francisco State
University.
On-going funding is provided by the state through the Regional
Center of the East Bay. Funding is supplemented by fund raising,
grant writing and donations.
We
consider ourselves to be an extension of the special education system
and are dedicated to providing continuing instruction in daily living
skills and personal growth to all of our students.
Community access and involvement is an integral part of our
program philosophy. Although programming is provided at our facility
locations, each student is afforded the opportunity to access the
community for six hours per week. We have access to a number of
community resources, public transportation and vocational training
sites.
