The Regional
Center of the East Bay (RCEB) is a private nonprofit corporation
under contract with the California Department of Developmental Services.
The Department of Developmental Services coordinates services for
all developmentally disabled persons residing in California. RCEB
has been serving families in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties since
1976. RCEB is one of a statewide network of 21 Regional Centers,
each serving a specific geographical area, and each guided by a
community-based Board of Directors. This unique system was created
by the enactment of the Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Act.
Regional Centers serve as a recourse for diagnosis, referral and
support between persons with developmental disabilities and services
in the community. The Regional Center of the East Bay does not discriminate
with regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age,
marital or veteran status, the presence of a non-job-related medical
condition or handicap, or any other legally protected status.
